Hope House- Building Credit & Protecting It

Colette Snyder, CFP®, recently returned to Hope House to continue her Smart Money Moves for Teen Moms series—this time focusing on credit. The session, titled Building and Protecting Your Credit, offered simple, real-world guidance to help young moms understand how credit works, why it matters, and how to keep it safe.

Colette broke down topics like how to start building credit responsibly, the difference between good and bad debt, and the impact of credit scores on future goals like renting an apartment or buying a car. She also discussed credit fraud, sharing easy ways to protect personal information and spot warning signs early.

The workshop was designed to be practical and encouraging, helping participants feel more confident about taking control of their financial future. Each mom left with actionable steps and a clearer understanding of how to use credit as a tool—not a trap.

It was another empowering session filled with great questions, honest conversations, and inspiration for a more secure financial journey ahead.
